
The St. John's Town Center area in Southside is growing again this, time is a new Luxury Residential Rential Community to be called 5000 Town. Holly Willis became somewhat of an overnight sensation when she garnered first place on Food Network's Cupcakes Wars – twice! Sweet By Holly became the cupcake provider of choice for Holllywood’s A-listers like Demi Moore, Bruce Willis, Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jay Leno Annette Bening-Beatty and husband Warren. Even Mikhail Gorbachev has added to his substantial girth at the hand of Holly.

Chef Pom Souvannasoth’s, formerly chef/owner of Pom’s Thai Bistro in San Marco has surfaced in Tapestry Park, the urban style live, dine and play village near the corner of Gate Parkway and Southside boulevard. The “dine” part just got even better.
If you are a car nut like me you might want to check out this weekend's (Saturday) Car show "Cars For Our Troops," which is a fundraiser event to benefit Homes For Our Troops, a national non-profit organization that builds adapted homes for severely injured soldiers returning from war since 9/11. The event is held at Wild Wings Cafe on Southside Blvd at Tinseltown, and will run from 10am to 1pm.

Across the country, upscale retailer Anthropologie has partnered with animal welfare organizations by holding pet adoption events and supply drives in many of its stores — including the store at St. Johns Town Center on September 24th.
What better setting to attract sympathtic dog-lovers that the stores where these customers shop. Mid-Atlantic Pug Rescue, (MAPR) Inc.is an all-volunteer group, determined that the welfare of these beautiful animals comes first.
It’s not quite a office pool that’s going to have people huddling near the hand sanitizer, but it’s worth noting. And fun taking a guess. Pre-research, I said 30. Googled and got 32. With some time on my hands, I drove though the area bounded by Town Center Parkway, JTB, 9A and Gate Parkway. Since you’ll probably read ahead anyway, I’ll just tell you there are 47. The St. Johns Town center’s 1.1 million square translates into approximately 25 square acres. With the Opening of Seasons 52 at the St. John's Town Center, Jacksonville joins Orlando and 19 other large metro areas where Darden Restaurants operates all of it's six brands: Red Lobster, Olive Garden, and LongHorn Steakhouse. Operating under it's Specialty Restaurant banner are the Capital Grille, Bahama Breeze and Seasons 52. Seasons 52 will open this fall, and in addition to it's seasonally rotated menu (hence the name), it's one of the few Darden properties that is "specialty-marketed" as a true venue for social and business events.
