Jacksonville's suburban explosion has largely spread south. Julington Creek Plantation started the trend to St Johns, then the World Golf Village conveniently located off I-95 took its roots as the lynchpin for this spread southward, where you'll find some of the town's newest subdivisions, from mid-priced to the very upscale King & Bear guard-gated community. It's midway between Jacksonville and St. Augustine, about a 20 minute drive south of downtown. It's home to the local's favorite. Bill Murray's Caddy Shack, and the World Golf Hall of Fame, the ultimate golf destination for players and fans of the game. We suggest a visit to the IMAX theatre, a fun feature for all. Attention please! "Listen Up" all you diehard shoppers, please continue about six miles further south off I-95 (on both sides) to find a shopper'snirvana - the St. Augustine Premium Outlets. 85 stores and counting, with bargains upon bargains from the best known national retail chains like Saks, Nordstrom, Polo, Nike, and too many others to mention. Between Jacksonville and World Golf Village, another popular area referred to as the "210 Corridor" has many subdivisions, plus this area alone boasts three golf course communities within a five minute drive, and two more at World Golf Village. This would classify the area as "heaven on earth" for all you golf enthusiasts. St Johns County is a much sought after community because of the highly-ranked school district and family-friendly communities. Two communities east of I-95 in St Johns County which deserve recognition are Palencia, for those with a discriminating taste for detail, and Nocatee, the new master-planned community, just minutes from Ponte Vedra. Both these communities are about 20 minutes outside Jacksonville's city limits with a comfortable ride up Highway 1, known to the locals as Philips Highway.
