Downtown Jacksonville FL Area Guide

It's the hub for corporations defining Jacksonville as the nexus of some of the largest banking, insurance and healthcare companies in the world, including Humana, Wells Fargo, SunTrust, Prudential and AT&T. Jacksonville was reborn when "The Great Fire" of 1901 almost totally destroyed downtown. It was rebuilt into what is now the center of Jacksonville's urban living and working community. Both the south and north bank of the St Johns River invite visitors and residents to leisurely stroll the Riverwalk where new high-rise apartments and condos dot the skyline with upscale townhomes and marinas, offering boaters the opportunity to dock close to several downtown dining and entertainment destinations at The Jacksonville Landing, with an eclectic collection of shoppes, bars and restaurants catering to every aesthetic from casual to continental.

Follow the "PAWS" on Bay St and you'll find yourself at Everbank Field, home of the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars, with the massive Metropolitan Park located on the banks of the St Johns River, where the annual Jazz Festival is held, with multiple events taking place year round. The Jacksonville Arena is in close proximity and hosts some of the world's biggest names in music who entertain to sold-out performances. Downtown is also a cultural center, with the Times Union Center for Broadway Shows, and and home to the Jacksonville Symphony. The historic Florida Theatre hosts smaller venues and, more intimate concerts. Also adding to Jacksonville's various cultural offerings is the new Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Museum of Science and History (MOSH), which is a favorite frequented field destination for grade schoolers, and a fascinating fun experience for "BIG KIDS" too!

Pho a Noodle Bar - Downtown Jacksonville FL
Pho a Noodle Bar - Downtown Jacksonville FL

It’s new, it’s noodlely, and you can have it just the way you like it at Pho A Noodle Bar, now open at 117 West Adams Street downtown. (PS, it’s “fuh” like duh, not “fo” like go).

This savory Vietnamese soup is gaining traction in Jacksonville (Check out also Bowl of Pho in Baymeadows). It’s a simple, healthy alternative, appropriate for lunch or dinner, and Pho ePHicianados tell me that Pho A Noodle Bar is on par with the some of the best noodle shops they’ve experienced, including those in NYC, where there is a proliferation of “noodle bars” throughout the city.
